Ziyech see competitor Belhanda drop-in Africa Cup-selection Morocco

Following his departure to chelsea Hakim Ziyech may yet hope for a place in the pre-selection of Morocco for the Africa Cup. Younes Belhanda, one of its competitors that initially the preference was given, has Thursday signed out with an injury.

The attacking midfielder, OGC Nice, ran Wednesday against Bordeaux a broken toe and is four to six weeks on the side.

Earlier Thursday, the 23-year-old Ziyech by coach Hervé Renard surprisingly passed in the Moroccan selection. Renard let us know that Belhanda and Mbark Boussoufa (Al Jazira) the preferred as attacking midfielders.

If Ziyech despite the injury of Belhanda will not be groups for Morocco, then this is good news for Ajax. The Locals can be the playmaker then simply bet in the first matches after the winter break.

Ziyech made his debut in October 2015 for Morocco and played nine international matches. He was in it five times accurate.

Emirates

The Moroccan pre-selection of 26 man starts on 27 december at a training camp in the United Arab Emirates. There, the group will be reduced to 23 players.

Feyenoorder Karim El Ahmadi received an invitation, just like old-Eredivisiespelers Boussoufa, Nordin Amrabat (Watford), Oussama Tannane (Saint-Etienne) and Manuel da Costa (Olympiakos).

Morocco is in the Africa Cup in group C with Ivory coast, Congo and Togo. The tournament in Gabon will be held from 14 January to 5 February.
