Zeilsters Annemiek Bekkering and Annette Duetz have Sunday in the Uk, the Weymouth olympic ticket conquered for the 49er FX class.
The reigning world champions picked up the European title on the water where the 2012 olympic races were sailed.
The victory was a prerequisite for a ticket for the Games of 2020 in Tokyo. Their concurrentes Odile of Bolted and Marieke Boys had the World Cup in Genoa won. That event was the first selection event.
Bekkering and Duetz ended up in the rankings of the Open european CHAMPIONSHIPS, second behind the Brazilian women’s Martine Grael and Kahena Kunze, but who were not entitled to claim the European title.
Of Bolted and Boys were also present in Weymouth, but they made a moderate week. By a 23rd-place they were not allowed to participate in the medalrace. The couple had Sunday to watch how Bekkering and Duetz the Dutch ticket veiligstelden.
Bekkering and Duetz were last year in Aarhus, denmark for the first time in their career, world champion in olympic class. At the Olympics in Rio, they were three years ago seventh.
