World cup Chinese cooking ‘especially instructive’

The world cup Chinese cooking is not only a competition, especially a time to the various Chinese kookwijzes to learn, says chef and participant Edwin Vinke. It is the first time that the event outside Asia is held.

“It’s all for the fun and the important thing is that we can learn from each other and a fun event can drop,” says Vinke at NPO Radio 1.

From all over the world, master chefs for these championships to the Netherlands. The eighth world cup will be held from Monday to Wednesday in Ahoy Rotterdam. Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb of Rotterdam opened the competition Monday.

The netherlands won at the previous world cup in Singapore two gold medals.

The cook does not know how it is that the Dutch excel in the Chinese kitchen. “The Chinese are, of course, already long here in the Netherlands. And here we have so many beautiful products. That is sometimes underestimated,” says Vinke.
