Woods gets cut not at the first tournament on the PGA Tour since injury
In his first tournament on the PGA Tour since his lingering back injury Tiger Woods has not succeeded in the cut. The American golficoon had four shots to be much need for a third day at the Farmers Insurance Open.
After his second round yielded the 41-year-old Woods a scorecard of 72 strokes (par), good for shared 110th position. That turned out to be not enough after his first day with 76 strokes (4 over par).
“It is frustrating that I have no chance I have to win here”, a frustrated Woods, who is his last Major calculated on the same track won at the US Open of 2008. “All in all it went a lot better than yesterday. I hit them better and drew well again. That gave me a good feeling.”
The veertienvoudig Major winner played at the Torrey Pines Golf Course his first serious tournament since August, 2015. Last month he was already back on the job at the Hero World Challenge, but that tournament is not part of the PGA Tour.
Jason Day, the world number one and US Open champion Dustin Johnson missed the cut also. After two rounds, the British olympic champion Justin Rose with a score of -8 to lead San Diego.
