Women may suffer more from stress by hormoonspiraaltje
Women with a hormoonspiraaltje may suffer more from stress and a higher heart rate during stressful moments.
Estimated to be used more than 12 percent of the women between 18 and 45 in the Netherlands a hormoonspiraaltje. A hormoonspiraaltje is a contraceptive and is in the uterus placed.
Long-term chronic stress can lead to mental disorders such as depression and concentration problems, according to research by the Erasmus MC Monday.
Erasmus MC studied 150 women with and without iud intensive, and looked at their rhythm and the height of their cortisolwaarden, a stress hormone. Also looking at the researchers how stressful the women in certain situations were.
According to the researchers, women are now told that a hormoonspiraaltje only in the uterus is working, but now it seems that not to be correct. Jurate Aleknaviciute, research in the department of psychiatry of the Erasmus MC: “Women should therefore be informed that the effects of the hormoonspiraaltje not only locally and that the increased stress response partly due to the effects of the hormoonspiraaltje on the brain.”
