WEST BEND, Wis. – A woman holding a baby Jesus statue that had disappeared from a Nativity scene in a Wisconsin park is arrested for theft.
The police in West Bend, Wisconsin, says an officer saw a 21-year-old woman early Sunday with the statue. When the officer tried to stop and speak with her, she ran. The officer caught her and she was arrested on charges of theft and obstruction.
The figurine she wore was of the Old Settlers Park in West Bend, a city of approximately 30,000 people 40 miles (64 kilometers) north of Milwaukee. The police say that it is a replacement of a damaged Dec. 17.
The researchers are not able to connect the woman to the injury of the other figure. The woman’s identity has not been released.
