The woman, who the authorities said is an American citizen, but not otherwise identify, was arrested and transferred to the Security of the Homeland. CBP officers seized the vehicle.

San Diego Customs and Border Protection Director of Field Operations Pete Flores said in a statement drug “cartels will try and manipulate everyone to smuggle their narcotics through the ports of entry.”

“CBP officers are aware of the many tactics used by the cartels and continue to be always on their guard to stop anyone who attempts to smuggle narcotics,” he added.
