The explosion redistribution of the apartment building in the northwest part of Wisconsin.

A man called 911 in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, late Sunday evening and told the coordinator he had a bomb. A short time later, an explosion and a fire destroyed his apartment building.

The Rice Lake Police Department first responded to the 911 call at 11:07 pm, Sunday. Upon arrival, officers contacted the South Main Street apartment of 44-year-old Joseph Zunker and heard a man screaming from inside. When officers and deputies attempted to make contact, Zunker, and threatened to “blow everyone.”
The police evacuated about 14 residents of the building for officers to witness Zunker lighting a fire, that the cause of the devastating explosion.
The fire that followed the explosion spread over the entire complex, and the building has been declared a complete loss. Zunker was later found dead in his apartment.
As a result of the explosion, a Rice Lake police officer suffered minor injuries from flying debris. He was treated by paramedics and returned to duty. A resident received minor injuries during their evacuation from the building. No other injuries were reported.
