A man was in custody Friday in connection with four west Texas shoot-outs this week, targeting stranded motorists that a person is dead and another injured, authorities said.

In each case, the victim was in a vehicle that had broken down on the side of the road in Ector County, and the defendant is a person in a white pick-up truck that had stopped to offer assistance, KOSA-TV reported

“The Ector County Sheriff’s Office, believe that we have the person who is responsible for the recent shootings in the last couple of days in custody,” Sheriff Mike Giffis said Friday night.

That person was not named. Local media reported that the Griffis’s planned to release more details Monday at a news conference.

Ector County includes the city of Odessa, the scene of a shooting four weeks ago, in which seven people were killed and more than 20 others were injured.

“I hate … that this is happening in our community. Once more,” Griffis said Friday that the shooting of the suspect’s arrest.

The driver, who was shot and killed, and had broken into a vehicle in the vicinity of I-20 Tuesday night, the Odessa American reported. He has not been identified.

The other shooting incident took place on Tuesday with a 16-hour period of time. The person who was injured was shot in the abdomen, authorities said.
