Weightlifting remains an olympic sport. The international olympic committee (IOC) the sport unconditionally in the program of the olympic Games of 2024 in Paris.
The decision is a reward for the radical measures that the global gewichthefbond (IWF) in the past year and a half has taken to doping from the sport to ban.
The sport that already from the first editions a part of the Olympic Games, suffered the last few years among the many dopinggevallen, that elimination of the program was threatened. The IOC, the IWF in 2017 warned that the olympic status was in danger.
To have the power to save, performed the IWF under a different system of qualifications for the next Olympics in Tokyo, where countries with relatively many dopingzondaars only two lifters are allowed to emit.
Five countries already know that they will be in 2020 with a maximum of one man and one woman are allowed to participate in the Olympic Games in Tokyo. That are Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Armenia and belarus. Those countries have since 2008 been more than twenty dopingovertredingen, together even more than 130.
Dozens of lifters over the past years, medals won at the Games were at the re-test of their urine samples as yet on the use of doping caught. They are in principle never more welcome at the Games.
