Watchdog report faults VA chief over Europe travel costs

WASHINGTON – An internal watchdog investigation has revealed that the Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin wrong accepted, Wimbledon tennis tickets and probably wrongly used taxpayers ‘ money to cover his wife’s airline tickets for an 11-day European trip.

The report also questions Shulkin, the decision of direct temporary workers on official time to arrange his personal trips and activities during the July-trip to England and Denmark.

The inspector-general of the audit is the latest in a controversy over the misuse of the government travel by top Trump officials.

Shulkin’s lawyers say he did nothing is incorrect. A spokesperson from the ministry says Shulkin “travels much less than a recent VA-secretary”, and does not take private jets.
