(Des Moines PD)

In the middle of stealing hundreds of dollars worth of groceries, police say an arrogant thief decided to double-down on his crimes by the challenge of the employees as he left the Washington state market on Sunday.

But the police are trying to get the last laugh.

Store cameras caught the man leaving the store, and now the officials are hoping members of the public can ID of the smug shoplifter.

It was unclear from the police department’s statement about the incident which store the man reportedly stolen from or what items he’s accused of.

The police said that they would like to “charge him with a crime.” Authorities did not immediately explain how he taunted the terrified supermarket staff.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Des Moines police.
