Hill is in the reptile business for nearly 30 years, but he had never seen anything quite like this.
“You could see the outline of some strange objects in the stomach,” Josh Llinas, a veterinarian with Greencross Vets in Queensland, told the Courier Mail.
A professional snake catcher brought the almost 7-metre-long creature in the Australian clinic.
Llinas said the professional snake catcher brought the almost 7-metre-long python in the clinic. The vet did several X-rays to confirm that the snake had indeed taken of the shoe.
“This is made for one of the most impressive photos I’ve seen,” HerpVet, a reptile section within the Greencross Jindalee clinic, wrote in a Facebook post that a number of graphic images. “You can’t put these things on the people.”
The shoe was too large and too far into the hose body to come out of course, so Llinas prepared for the surgery.
“Sometimes, you can remove the foreign objects by to help them after they are relax … by them to move to the digestive tract and out of the mouth,” Llinas said. “This was just too big and was not going to come out.”
HerpVet said the reptile was under general anaesthetic while the vet performed coeliotomy and gastrotomy – the opening of the stomach with an incision. With a 17-inch opening, the doctor was able to extract the object from the snake’s body about an hour.

“After removal of the slipper … the stomach was closed in two layers, the body wall muscle was closed and the surgical staples have been used for the skin,” HerpVet explained.
The python was given fluids and painkillers and rest for up to eight weeks. Llinas did not elaborate on where the snake will go when it fully recovers.

“He woke up well, and is off to rehab in a few days,” HerpVet said on Monday.
It is not uncommon for snakes to eat random objects. They will pretty much devour anything they think looks tasty, Llinis said.
“I had a pillowcase removed from a black-headed python, and just a few months ago, I had a tennis ball away from a snake,” Llinis said. “This was probably one of the more unusual things I’ve removed. I’ve heard of others swallowing strings, hugs. You name it, they will eat it.”
