VPRO launches podcast version Men of the Radio
The VPRO has all the episodes of the Men from The Radio as a podcast on its website. The iconic radiosketches of Hans Teeuwen Pieter Bouwman are all some time available on cd.
The two comedians provided between 1995 and 1997 with great regularity an absurdist, improvised radiosketch in the program in The Evenings. The conversations were about the most diverse topics, from Jesus to Jaap Stobbe and aubergines to Mariska Veres. “Not infrequently there was also a glass of wine”, says Bouwman.
The creators are still many addressed in the skits, he says. “The Men of the Radio has evolved into a kind of culthit. The are pretty timeless discussions that the new generation is just as hard to be embraced.” In total, between 15 and 20 hours’ of material. In the late nineties there was, however, a double-cd with the 26 best skits, but this one is completely sold out.
A return of The Men of the Radio connect Bouwman, incidentally. “We were at that time together in a crazy flow,” he describes. “You must not try those times to be revived. But it’s very nice that there are so many preserved and that people still enjoy.”
