Vitesse defender Kruiswijk set to end career due to back injury

Arnold Kruiswijk move after this season, one point behind his career. The 34-year-old defender from Vitesse due to a lingering back injury physically not be able to continue to play football.

“I already have a while load of my back and that just won’t go away. I have a number of time long, had rehab and am getting back in the selection, but whenever I fully meetrain with the selection, then the pain returns,” he says against Vitesse TV.

Kruiswijk came by the injuries this season, no more than a minute in action. He played his last official match on 16 January 2018, against Sparta Rotterdam (0-1 victory).

The lefty made in 2002 his debut in professional football for FC Groningen and was later also active for RSC Anderlecht, Roda JC, sc Heerenveen, and so Vitesse.

Kruiswijk came in total to 392 matches

Kruiswijk came in total to 392 matches in clubverband (167 of Groningen, 92 for Heerenveen, 76 for Vitesse, 22 for Anderlecht and 21 for Roda JC).

The birth of Groningen has won in the last seventeen years, four prizes. He reached with Anderlecht for the championship title in 2010, with Vitesse for the cup in 2017 and with the Jong Oranje to the European title in 2006 and 2007.

On 10 september 2006, Kruiswijk in the game Groningen against Heracles Almelo the fastest own goal in the history of the Premier league. He passed at the time after just nine seconds and goalkeeper Bas Roorda.

On 10 march 2017 made Kruiswijk in race number 304 in the Premier league and after 25.318 minutes dry to have stood on behalf of Vitesse at home against Sparta the first and only goal of his career.
