Ocean and river cruise company, Viking, has revealed it is to drop the word “Cruising” in the name, if it is to continue to grow and focus on the destination.

According to the CruiseCritic.com the Viking company founder Tor Hagen, was announced at a speech in Los Angeles last week, the cruise line’s website, as amended from VikingCruises.com to Viking.com, bonding with the change to move forward.

Hagen said that the decision has been made as the company continues to focus on the places and the offer that will separate it from the cruise line and other brands as well, including a visit to the smaller ports, and the lack of a casino, and the children are on board.”

As a Cruise Critic pointed out, the other cruise lines have changed their names and logos in order to reflect the fundamental changes in the product portfolio of the company, including Azamara, the Ritz Carlton, the Hunt Collection, and as a Virgin to Travel.

One of the main reasons for the change will be for the Vikings to move into the expedition cruising, with its two specially-designed ships are coming in 2022. The cruise line is expected to take delivery of at least 12 of the ocean and the river and the ships in the next few years.

Travelers looking to book cruises with Viking and through to the cruise line’s website, you will be able to travel to one of the three tabs; the river, the ocean, and the Dutch.

Viking announced last month a new, identical ships are expected to debut next year, all of which will be used on the cruise line’s popular eight-day ” Paris and the Heart of Normandy, map in 2021.
