“City Lights” was the final selection for The White Stripes’ Get Behind Me Satan from 2005 just does not, but it was by Jack White again fished for his recently published solo album of Acoustic Recordings 1998-2016.

The video clip is from the hand of Michel Gondry, known to the general public as the director of the sci-fi cult film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Gondry previously worked together with Jack and Meg White for the Lego-inspired stop-motionvideoclip of Fell in Love with a Girl, from 2001. The video for City Lights is according to Whites record label, Third Man Records ‘a surprise gift’ of the director, the video without a person’s knowledge recorded, and him only recently to the label sent.

At Third Man, they describe the City Lights beyond as ‘the first worldwide edition of The White Stripes since 2008.’ The band broke apart in 2011. Jack White brought after the break, a few solo projects, around Meg White continued since then still.

Acoustic Recordings 1998-2016 of Jack White is since 9 september in the shop.
