HANOI (Reuters) – Vingroup JSC, Vietnam’s largest listed firm by market value, said on Friday it had signed a deal with Qualcomm, and is a unit of japan’s Fujitsu Ltd. to produce the 5G of smartphones in the country.
The v-smart phones will be manufactured in the factory located in the capital city of Hanoi and will be on sale in the U.S. and European markets starting in April of next year, Vingroup said in a statement.
Earlier this month, the company embarked on the construction of the plant will produce 125 million units per annum..
Vingroup launched q-smart, the brand in December last year, is looking to win a share of the most popular brands of Samsung and Apple in Vietnam, which has a population of 95 million people.
The company began with the sale of the v-smart-phones in Spain, and in March and plans to expand to other European markets. The phone went on sale in its regional neighbour Myanmar last month.
