Christine Hallquist: Transgender candidate makes history

A look at democratic gubernatorial candidate Christine Hallquist and how she could make history as the first transgender-Governor in the United States

Hallquist is the first openly transgender woman to run for Governor in the United States – a remarkable change for a woman, the horrified just a few years ago, when she was still living as a man by the name of Dave, was a notice that someone of your knowledge on gender dysphoria.

“I was sure when I was converted, I would end up sleeping in a gutter somewhere,” Hallquist Politico said.

It was not until the 1990s and early 2000s, that transgender candidates began to appear on the ballot in the whole country. Iwamoto became the first transgender to win a person state-wide office to always be Hawaii board of education in 2006-elected.

But for all the country and talk about Hallquist’s sex change, her transition from CEO to become a politician, the biggest campaign issue in the Green Mountain State” – would speed while you are promoting your turnaround of the electric co-op as an example of how you reverse the Vermont rural and the fight against climate change.

But Hallquist is far from a shoo-in for the lieutenancy.

A recent survey of Vermont Public Radio and Vermont PBS found that none of the Democratic primary candidates for the high level of awareness, although Hallquist performed better than their competitors: Lake Champlain International executive director James Ehlers, Southern Vermont Dance Festival Director Brenda seal, and – Yes, you read that right – the 14-year-old Ethan Sonneborn.

But if she makes it through the primary, it is a hard climb in November. Vermont is one of several New England States with a Republican Governor as a solid shot at re-election.

Republican incumbent Gov. Phil Scott has recently seen approval ratings, but he still enjoys a sizable lead over his Democratic rivals and his Republican Challenger — food traders Keith star. Most of the race rankings, also of Fox News, list of the races as likely Republican.
