Vergeer chef de mission paralympic team at the Games in Pyeongchang
Esther Vergeer is Wednesday appointed as chef de mission of the paralympic team at the Winter olympic games of 2018 in Pyeongchang.
“I am very happy and proud that I this task can serve for NOC*NSF and with TeamNL”, according to the former rolstoeltennisster in a first reaction on Twitter.
“That I am this way can continue to build on the paralympic sport is something I really cool find.”
Vergeer was last year at the Summer games in Rio de Janeiro already assistant of André Cats, that after that event, the NOC*NSF, the leaving and as technical director of the KNZB went.
“I had such an amazing experience to the success from up close. That tasted like more,” explains Vergeer.
“I think I have the experience that I as an athlete have, but now also the experience that I as a delegate have, can absolutely take it to the chef de missionschap.”
Vergeer began in 2013 a point behind her glittering sporting career. She captured seven gold medals at the Paralympic Games and crowned themselves 27 times Grand Slam champion.
The 36-year-old Woerdense has also still the longest undefeated series behind her name. She put her last 470 parties in a victory.
