Esther Vergeer is Wednesday appointed as chef de mission of the paralympic team at the Winter olympic games of 2018 in Pyeongchang.

“That I am this way can continue to build on the paralympic sport is something I really cool find.”

Vergeer was last year at the Summer games in Rio de Janeiro already assistant of André Cats, that after that event, the NOC*NSF, the leaving and as technical director of the KNZB went.

“I had such an amazing experience to the success from up close. That tasted like more,” explains Vergeer.

“I think I have the experience that I as an athlete have, but now also the experience that I as a delegate have, can absolutely take it to the chef de missionschap.”

Vergeer began in 2013 a point behind her glittering sporting career. She captured seven gold medals at the Paralympic Games and crowned themselves 27 times Grand Slam champion.

The 36-year-old Woerdense has also still the longest undefeated series behind her name. She put her last 470 parties in a victory.
