Van Loon and join Mini for Toyota in Dakar Rally 2017
Erik van Loon will be in the next edition of the Dakar Rally for a position in the top ranking go in a Toyota. The Dutchman drove the past few years in a Mini.
The 47-year-old Brabant entrepreneur will receive access to a Toyota Hilux.
Van Loon has eight times to participate in the Dakar Rally. His best ranking came in 2015, when he with a Mini fourth in the overall standings of the cars, the best result ever of a Dutchman.
In the last edition he had with navigator Wouter Rosegaar to be satisfied with thirteenth place, despite a handsome second place in one of the toughest stages. Mechanical failure threw the duo, however, far back in the standings.
The Dakar Rally 2017 will start on 2 January and lasts until 14 January.
