A van is Thursday drove into pedestrians in the centre of Barcelona. The Spanish police speaks of a terrorist attack. There are at least twenty injuries and possible deaths.

Local media speak of at least two deaths, but that is not confirmed yet. The Spanish emergency services call up people to stay away from the place of the accident.

The white van drove full speed into the pavement of the Ramblas. A famous street where many tourists come. Dozens of people would have been hit.

According to the Spanish newspaper El Pais, would the driver of the van on the flight have been captured.

The Spanish newspaper El Periodico is reporting that two armed men have been holed up in a bar. It is unclear yet whether the two were also involved in the attack with the van.

The rescue services have the people called the area around the Plaça de Catalunya to avoid. Metro stations nearby are closed. The environment is by the police cordoned off.
