Van der Sar really disappointed after ‘dramatic switch-off’ Ajax
General director Edwin van der Sar called for the elimination of Ajax in the final qualifying round of the Europa League on Thursday “very dramatic for everyone in Ajax is involved”.
“It really is very disappointing,” he said to FOX Sports after the defeat of 3-2 in Trondheim . “We had a great start, but a mistake in midfield left behind”, that he meant on a miss of Donny van de Beek.
“Then is Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is strong, and we come with the 2-1 for. Or I thought that Dolberg there when needed for Deyovaisio Zeefuik? I think that our trainer, so that quick left wanted to monitor. But it was, the weather was not in our side. We were once again stronger, but have lost again.”
By two late goals from Rosenborg-striker Samuel Adegbenro lost to Ajax for the second time in eight days by the Norwegian champion.
The general manager was not directly on the question whether the board of Ajax the departure of Bertrand Traoré, Davy Klaassen and Davinson Sanchez previously would have had to catch.
“We need as a board to look at ourselves, just as the players and the trainer”, kept Van der Sar on the plain. “The beautiful evenings that we past season have had a go this season we do not see. That is a very heavy disappointment.”
Ajax turned off in Europe after a new defeat against Rosenborg
“I think tonight is a good game, have played with plenty of chances to win. By individual errors, we give easy goals away and we lose. We were in both of the matches against Rosenborg is not the lesser party,” says Van der Sar.
Ajax reached last season the final of the Europa League. The last time the amsterdam European were active was in season 1990/1991. That was not on sporting grounds, but by a suspension of the UEFA after the ‘staafincident’ against Austria Wien.
