VAR-project leader Mike van der Roest makes the transition from the DUTCH to the FIFA. The Dutchman is at the wereldvoetbalbond responsible for everything related to the videoscheidsrechter.
Van der Roest began at the KNVB as a referee and whistled between 2005 and 2009 110 matches in professional football. In 2015, the 46-year-old Alkmaarder added to the technical staff scheidsrechterszaken at the football association.
“Mike has played a major role in the introduction of the VAR in the Netherlands. Of testing in vans along the fields until the arrival of the ARAG KNVB Replay Center,” says coordinator scheidsrechterszaken Dick van Egmond on the site of the KNVB.
“He has done an excellent job. Both for Mike if the KNVB is a great compliment that he for this position is asked. We wish him much success with this beautiful step.”

“This is a reward for our work
Van der Roest, who in his career in addition to referee also match organiser in district West I was looking forward to his “beautiful challenge” to the FIFA. “In the Netherlands we always have a driver of the VAR. I now turn to the FIFA to work as a project manager, I consider as a reward for our work.”
