Van der Laan sacked as coach Oranjevrouwen
Arjan van der Laan it is Friday unexpectedly fired as coach of the Oranjevrouwen. The ex-prof was only slightly more than a year, the trainer of the football.
“Since Van der Lane appointment he has made the first steps in the development of the team towards the european CHAMPIONSHIPS”, says Hans van Breukelen, technical of the KNVB, in a press release. “We, however, have too little confidence in that he is the right person to be the team also in the last phase to guide.”
Assistant coach Sarina Wiegman takes provisionally the duties of Van der Laan on an interim basis. The KNVB is looking for a new coach towards the european CHAMPIONSHIPS 2017, in the Netherlands is held.
The european CHAMPIONSHIPS start on 16 July 2017 for Orange, with the match in Galgenwaard stadium against Norway. Denmark (20 June) and Belgium (24 June) are the other countries in group A.
The 47-year-old Van der Laan was the national coach since October 1, 2015. The former player of Sparta, ADO Den Haag and FC Twente was the successor of Roger Reijners, who decided after the world cup in Canada to leave.
Foppe de Haan, who adviser was Van der Laan at the Oranjevrouwen, still don’t know if he has that function also will occupy under the new coach.
