Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Jean-Paul Boëtius were on Sunday happy with the 0-1 win of Feyenoord at Excelsior, but also realize that the game of the champion much better.

“In the second half, I found our a lot less than in the first half”, said trainer Van Bronckhorst against FOX Sports. “We have to be smarter, longer the ball is in possession. A lot of choices to the ball were not good.”

In defensive regard, Van Bronckhorst is not fully satisfied. “We made too many violations around the own sixteen meters, so you give Excelsior the opportunity to be dangerous.”

Feyenoord is after two tough victories without a loss of points in the Premier league. Last week it was 2-1 to FC Twente won. “Also today against Excelsior was a deserved victory,” said the trainer. “But we made it ourselves unnecessarily difficult.”

“In the first half, we won a high level. In the second half we were a lot less. Then you should do what you are asked for the victory to win, and that we have done well.”
