Mark van Bommel will not be that PSV eindhoven on Thursday in the city of Trondheim, the sky-high favourites for the meeting with Rosenborg in the Europa League. The coach has been impressed with the Norwegian band.
“They have five or more years of experience, and that means close to 150 matches and more training sessions. That is certainly an advantage,” said Van Bommel on Wednesday at a press conference before the encounter with Rosenborg.
Where a PSV player on the season has commenced, “as is” Rosenborg are not in the best of shape. The team of coach Eirik Horneland is the 23rd club in fourth place in the Norwegian league, twelve points of leading Molde BK. Rosenborg started out in the group stage two weeks ago with a 1-0 defeat at LASK.
Van Bommel is the reason for players are still at the heart of pressing in the opponent that should not be underestimated. “We’re not in the position to say that we just might win,” stated the coach.
“These kind of matches are separate from the other races. Rosenborg is well known for playing the long-ball, but they have a lot more potential. They can also be on the ground and play football.”
‘Can’t pick a favorite in the group’
This is not the first time this season that PSV is a Norwegian opponent in the woods. The Locals were playing in the third qualifying round of the Europa League against FK Haugesund, which is only with difficulty to the side it was set from 0 to 1 win in Norway, and the goalless draw in Eindhoven, the netherlands.
“It wasn’t easy for us,” commented Van Bommel is back in the thrilling two-part series, with the current number eight in Norway. “Haugesund got the opportunity and now we have to be ready for it, otherwise it will be a tough night.”
The match between PSV eindhoven and Rosenborg will begin on Thursday at 21: 00 on science and technology, Trondheim. The runner-up of the Premier league and won the first game of the group stage with a 3-2 to Sporting CP, and it is on the basis of goal difference at the top of group D.
Van Bommel is, nevertheless, that his team is the favorite to the top of their group to finish. “In this group, there is not a huge favorite. Anyone can, everyone won.”
