UVA official defends hiring of Trump official

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The head of the University of Virginia affiliate focused on the presidential scholarship is defending his decision to hire a departing member of President Donald Trump of the administration as a senior fellow.

Miller Center CEO William Antholis said in a statement on Friday that he would receive significant backlash for the hiring of Trump’s legislative affairs director Marc Short.

A petition has spread opposed to Shortly before the appointment of the faculty and the students still are angry about the president, in response to last year’s white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, where a woman was killed.

Antholis said Short one-year fellowship will bring to the centre a “missing critical voice” of a Trumpet, and a supporter, while the help of the centre of the scholars stay “at the ” cutting edge” of their fields.
