LOS ANGELES – the coast of California resident whose partner is killed in the devastating mudslides in January, has called a program, alleging the defective equipment led to a massive forest fire that stripped the hills bare ahead of the heavy rains that flooded their house.
Lalo Barajas and Peter Fleurat were wiped out when mud and boulders crashed through their home in Montecito. Fleurat’s body was found in the following day.
A wrongful death lawsuit filed Wednesday by Barajas and Fleurat, the brothers and sisters claims Southern California Edison transformers ignited California’s largest-ever wildfire in December. The suit says that the fire may occur and the debris flows would not have happened as a result.
It is one of the two similar lawsuits this week. An Edison spokesman says that it is a premature reaction, because it is the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
