(Reuters) – A U.S. trade court on Tuesday recommended Qualcomm Inc be granted a request for a ban on imports of some iPhones sold by Apple Inc.
An administrative law judge of the US International Trade Commission said the basis for the prohibition was the observation that Apple’s infringement of a Qualcomm patent with respect to the smartphone technology.
The judge in the first clause is not binding and will be reviewed by the agency.
Apple and Qualcomm not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The ITC is expected to make a final decision later on Tuesday in a similar case brought by Qualcomm, which the chip maker is also looking to a US ban on the sale of a number of iPhones.
