MUNICH (reuters) – The United States is seeking to develop a partnership with the telecommunications industry to provide alternatives to the chinese company, Huawei Technologies, a senior White House official said on Friday.
Speaking at the Munich Security Conference in Germany, Robert Blair and the White House’s special representative for international telecommunications policy, said the partnership was very different to that of buying stocks with the money of the taxpayers.”
U.S. Attorney General William Barr, has suggested that the United States is considering taking control of two major foreign competitors from the Smartphone, even though the White House later dismissed the suggestion.
He also said Britain needed to take a “hard look” at its decision to use equipment from Huawei, which officials in Washington say that it is a threat to the safety and security at the company, denies it.
