Unruly man with guns arrested at Houston hotel

HOUSTON – Houston police that a drunk man was arrested in a hotel ahead of a New Year’s Eve party for the unlawful carrying of a weapon and trespassing after officials of different guns and ammunition in his room.

Investigators say security officers called the police after the man became belligerent and refused to be subdued early Sunday at the bar in the center of Houston, is the Hyatt Regency Hotel. The hotel is the annual New Year’s Eve party is one of the largest.

The police Lt. Gordon Macintosh says responding officers with a rifle, shotgun and pistol in his room and ammunition.

The police said the man is imprisoned. His name is not released yet.

Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo tweeted that the situation was “contained” and the authorities are not aware of the specific threats to the city.

A police spokesman said Sunday afternoon that the researchers could not speculate about the man’s intention.
