UN vote on settlements Israel postponed
The UN Security council and judges Thursday, according to diplomats yet have no opinion on the Israeli settlements in the occupied territory.
Egypt was as a temporary member of the board of plan a resolution to submit to which Israel is called to “immediately and completely stop all nederzettingsactiviteiten in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem”.
But the vote has been postponed, according to a western diplomat even “as possible, for an indefinite period of time”. That would be the result of consultations at high level between the Israeli and the Egyptian government. President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi personally would the UN mission in his country have issued the resolution now not in the mood.
The Security council has in the past been in several resolutions have declared that the Israeli settlements are contrary to international law and peace stand in the way. But determine that they need to disappear would be a significant step further.
