UEFA honours Sala with a minute of silence at all European matches this week

Prior to all Champions League and Europa League matches this week will be a minute’s silence held in memory of striker Emiliano Sala, the UEFA on Tuesday announced.

Sala was missing after the privévliegtuig which he from Nantes to Cardiff flew from the radar disappeared. After a long search on The Channel was the wreck containing the bodies of the Argentinian last week found. The pilot is still not found.

“On behalf of everyone at the UEFA, I want my deepest condolences extend to the family and loved ones from Emiliano Sala”, says UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin, on the site of the European football association.

“It does me a lot that he at such a young age from the life is snatched. I call upon the supporters in the whole of Europe on to in the next few days to show respect.”

UEFA provides the teams this week in the Champions League and the Europa League come the possibility of a black armband to wear. It is not mandatory.

Also in Johan Cruijff Arena, a minute of silence

The tribute of the UEFA means that Wednesday also in the Johan Cruijff ArenA, a minute’s silence is held before the start of the Ajax-Real Madrid in the eighth finals of the Champions League. The kick-off for that match is at 21.00.

Sala was 28 years old. He had just made the switch from FC Nantes to Cardiff City, where he is the most expensive purchase ever was presented. Just before his flight, he had said goodbye to his teammates in France.
