Dispute with UberEATS delivery leaves customer dead

Customer murdered after a quarrel with UberEATS driver. Food delivery driver sought in Georgia shooting.

Atlanta police are looking for a food delivery driver Monday after a man who ordered UberEATS was killed in a shooting over the weekend, the officials said.

The Atlanta Police told FOX5 the shooting happened in the heart of the chic Buckhead district, around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, when the 30-year-old Ryan Thornton went outside to get his food.

Witnesses told police Thornton and the driver, in a white Volkswagen, came in a kind of argument, and then someone in the vehicle began shooting, striking Thornton multiple times.

The driver then sped away from the building. Thornton was taken by ambulance to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he later died, police said.

Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed after an alleged dispute with a UberEATS director in Atlanta.

The man had used UberEATs, a food delivery service where a driver picks up the orders from the participating restaurants.

A spokesperson from Uber told FOX 5 in a statement: “We are shocked and saddened by this news. We work together with the Police of Atlanta, and our hearts go out to the families of the people involved.”

Megan Emery, who lives in the same building as Thornton for more than a year, told FOX5 she heard the commotion on Saturday, but not hear the shots. Her building, described as “31 stories of Buckhead luxury living,” has a robust network of security cameras.

“It’s a little scary. I mean, there are a lot of young women that live in this apartment and we have really good security. So, you do not always think that such a thing could happen,” Emery said. “I will probably not be used in delivery food service anytime soon, just for peace of mind.”
