Uber gets criticized tracking from smartphone app
Taxi service Uber removes a function from the app, which is the taxi company in the state, to users after a ride to keep up.
That tells Uber chief security officer Joe Sullivan to Reuters. The function is in an update removed that later this week for the iPhone. On Android, the tracking never rolled out.
The tracking function of Uber has been criticized. The app could users for up to five minutes to follow after a ride was completed. That was, according to Uber for the safety of customers to ensure.
Users could not choose to a location only to share as an app was open. Wanted a customer to the tracking function off, all location services within the app are turned off.
Uber says that the trackingoptie never been implemented in practice. Now the option is completely out of the smartphone apps Uber removed.
The change has, according to Sullivan, nothing to do with the arrival of a new CEO in the company. This feature is reportedly held by former Expedia ceo Dara Khosrowshahi.
