COPENHAGEN, Denmark – The top U.S. military leader is his meeting with his Russian counterpart in Finland to the exchange of views on the US-Russia military relations, Syria, and the current international security situation.
Finnish news agency FNB said Friday at the meeting of Gen. Joseph Dunford, the current chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Russia is the head of the military general Staff, Gen. Valery Gerasimov, took place in a Finnish state-owned house used for meetings, negotiations and receptions in the north of the capital Helsinki.
No news conference or statement was planned.
FNB said Finland will host a similar meeting in 2008.
In April, NATO’s top military officer, the U.S. Army, Gen. Curtis Scaparrotti, a meeting with Gerasimov in Baku, Azerbaijan, for the first meeting since relations between Moscow and the alliance sank to the post-Cold War lows over the Ukrainian crisis.
