Two years effective imprisonment for the Italian ex-world champion Vincenzo Iaquinta

The former Italian footballer Vincenzo Iaquinta, who in 2006 with the Azzurri to world champion crowned, is by an Italian court and sentenced to two years unconditional imprisonment.

He was found guilty of possession of weapons and links with the Calabrian maffiaclan Ndrangheta.

The prosecutor had a prison sentence of six years claimed for the now 38-year-old ex-striker of Juventus, who have 40 caps collected for the Italian national team.

His father Giuseppe, who as an entrepreneur was part of the Ndrangheta, was given a prison sentence of 19 years.

Vincenzo Iaquinta entered the Squadra Azzurra to the wereldkampioenchappen of 2006 and 2010, in which he each time one went in goal. In 2006, he was with Italy, world champion.
