Two men sought for questioning in Nashville murders in custody

Two men sought for questioning in connection with a recent string of robberies and shootings in Nashville, Tennessee. were held, Monday, authorities said.

The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said the 20-year-old Demontrey Logsdon was arrested by members of the department’s gang unit and U.s. Marshals at a residence. About an hour later, the department said Lacory Lytle, 24, had set in.

Both men had sought in connection with the robbery and the fatal shooting of 30-year-old Jaime Sarrantonio, and the 33-year-old Smith Teal outside an East Nashville bar early Friday, as well as the Aug. 14 robbery and murder of the 31-year-old Kendall Rice in the suburb of Madison.

The researchers told Fox 17 that Lytle was convicted for the offence of aggravated assault in May and received a five-year probated sentence. Logsdon, 20, was sentenced for theft in November 2017 and also received a five-year probated sentence.

Both men were identified as potential suspects through the surveillance footage, recovered physical evidence and observations by officers.

The police had warned residents to be on guard in the wake of Friday’s shooting, with MNPD spokesman Don Aaron called the then-unidentified suspects “two cold-blooded murderers who clearly have no respect whatsoever for the sanctity of human life.”

Investigators say the suspects approached a group of people just to the left of The Cobra bar and tried to rob Teal, who was celebrating his birthday. After the shooting, the suspects fled to the north of Nashville, and threw the victim’s belongings in an alley, police said.

Three days earlier, Rice was shot and killed while walking to catch a bus to go to work. The murderers took his personal belongings. Fifteen minutes after Rice’s murder, police say, another man was shot and seriously wounded by two men on a complex of apartments in the same area.

The police had searched for a dark Chevrolet sedan in connection with the shooting.

An other possible related shooting took place just after midnight on Aug. 8, when a woman on her dogs was shot in the back. In an interview with the newspaper the Tennessean, said the woman saw a small, dark-colored Chevrolet, just before she was shot to death. The police said a similar car was reported in connection with the deadly shooting that took place last week.

The woman says when she was shot, the bullet grazed her back and left her paralyzed. Her husband, who works as a member of the crew of the band OneRepublic, told the newspaper that his wife “felt her stomach fill up and saw blood.

“She had the strength to call 911,” the man added. “Fortunately, there is a fire station nearby and I believe they were the first to get to her.”
