Two Belgian films on the shortlist for European Film Awards

Fien Troch and Philippe Van Leeuw may be our country’s major film awards score. If they do, we will know in december.

The Belgian movies Home of Fien Troch and Insyriated of Philippe Van Leeuw are on the shortlist for the European Film Awards. Also three Belgian co-productions the chance of a nomination: Brimstone, Layla M., and Loveless. The European Film Academy was the selection of 51 feature films Tuesday known.

Home is Trochs fourth feature film. The picture offers a glimpse into the world of Kevin, Sammy, John, and Lina and the adults that surround them. Both groups have it difficult to communicate with each other and each other’s world to understand.

In Insyriated shows the Brussels director Philippe Van Leeuw, in a gripping war drama two families of the victims of the war. The film is set entirely in a besieged house in the Syrian capital, Damascus, where there has been a heavy civil war is raging.

The coming weeks will be more than 3,000 members of the European Film Academy vote for the nominations in the category European Film, Director, Actor, Actress and Screenwriter. The nominations will be announced on 4 november at the Seville European Film Festival in Spain.

Winners of the 30th edition of the European Film Awards makes the Academy announced during an awards ceremony held in Berlin on 9 december.
