Twitter’s plans for the construction of the ‘local standard’ for social networking

(Reuters) – Twitter Inc. plans to set up an independent research group to be an open and distributed system, social networks, and CEO, Jack Dorsey, said on Wednesday that it could relieve the pressure on the company to appease critics of the content of the policy, but also to give rise to a new crop of competitors.

It is the system or set to “default” it would not be owned by a single private company, Dorsey said, ” and it would enable individuals to make use of a wide variety of services in order to gain access to the same network, just like they have to choose from the various e-mail providers to see the same stuff.

Policing speech on social media sites will require substantial investments, while it was still the voice of criticism from users of the policy to be too aggressive or too lax.

“Central to the enforcement of the global policy to tackle the abuse and misleading information, it is unlikely that the scale of the long-term without placing too much burden on the people,” Dorsey tweeted on here

He said the new approach would also allow Twitter to “focus our efforts on the construction of an open recommendation algorithms, which facilitate a healthy conversation, and will force us to be much more innovative than in the past.”

The idea is, as stated in the articles, Dorsey shared that developers can use to create their own algorithms in order to provide like-minded individuals with targeted access to the same social media networks as well.

For example, an individual could sign up with a service provider who would be aggressive in filtering, racist material, or any other, it would facilitate discussions with respect to other types of content.

The standard, however, could upend Twitter’s business model and, in the process, leading to competing services that offer filtering, content suggestions, and other tools that will prove to you that there are more and more popular with consumers.

In an article that Dorsey shared is called, “the Protocols, Not Platforms,” the tech news site Techdirt founder Mike Masnick explains how an open standard could give rise to a “competition in business models among software developers.

Some of the providers will be able to collect less user data for advertising, while others would refrain from advertising altogether, instead of charging users for access to premium services, such as filtering or storage of any information, Masnick wrote.

Dorsey said: “Twitter’s chief technology officer, Parag Agrawal, will be included in the cost of the hire of a head of the research team, the so-called BlueSky. Twitter will fund the project, which will take many years, but it won’t be right, ” he said.

He went on to say that blockchain technologies can be seen as a model for the decentralization of the host of the content, supervision, and utilization of social media, we will not discuss the alternatives to the use of Twitter in the ads-based business.
