‘Twitter ‘ Lockout’: Apparent bone purge sparks outrage from conservative users

An apparent movement of Twitter for the purification of bots has led to outrage from some conservative users of the platform, who say that their accounts be directed.

“Twitter is currently the purging of the followers of conservative accounts. I lost 3000 followers in one minute,” tweeted Candace Owens, director of the urban involvement for the Turning point of the U.S., a student organization that promotes the free market and limited government.

Conservative writer Mark Pantano also tweeted that his account had been affected. “Twitter’s attack was not only a purification of the bot accounts. Proof: My account is blocked. No reasonable person can say that my account is a bot account. All of the original content. I can’t retweet. This was an attack on the Conservatives under the guise of a bot to delete.”

The hashtag #TwitterLockOut was a top trending AMERICAN term on Twitter on Wednesday.

However, some users claimed that a series of accounts to be affected.

Self-described moderate Holly Figueroa O’reilly, who also co-organizer of the National march for the Truth, tweeted that the bots, unlike humans, which have been addressed, adding that it is not only the conservatives affected by the move. “If your friend says “temporarily restricted”, that only means that they have to log in to prove that she is a real person,” she wrote. “And it is not only happening with the conservatives.”

Nevertheless, the most votes on Twitter expressing anger over the apparent bone purge appeared to be conservative.

Twitter has not yet responded to a request for comment on this story from Fox News.

Bots, which are fake accounts used to spread propaganda or advertising campaigns, in the spotlight after the indictments handed down last week by the Special Council Robert Mueller. Müller-elektronik gmbh & charged 13 Russians and three Russian companies for alleged interference in the AMERICAN presidential elections in 2016, in which a plot to wage “information war” against the U.S. which they use social media.
