Turkish army headscarf in uniform
Women in the Turkish army allowed to wear a headscarf with their uniform. That have Turkish legerfunctionarissen Wednesday declared.
The step is noteworthy because the army, traditionally, sees as guardian of the secular state in which religion and state are separated.
With the change is the growing influence of the believer’s president Erdogan and his party AKP. Since the party in 2002, came to power, the faith is increasingly entangled with the public life. Long headscarves are prohibited for civil servants and in universities, but the AKP has previously been successfully changed.
The legerfunctionarissen stated that the headscarves can be worn on the uniform under a hat or a cap, but the face is not covered. Furthermore, the headscarf is no pattern and the color is to match that of the uniform.
