Turkey wants the rejection of asylum applications NATO soldiers in Germany
Shortly before the visit of German chancellor Angela Merkel to Ankara, Turkey in Germany called the asylum application of about forty Turkish soldiers working with NATO-settings to reject.
The Turkish Defence minister Fikri Isik said according to messages of the channel CNN Türk on Monday that the granting of asylum “very serious consequences”.
Some of the mainly high-ranking officers say that they were not involved in the failed coup d’état in Turkey, but are nevertheless scared to be arrested on their return to their homeland.
The German police and the ministry of Internal Affairs have informed that their requests will be treated as any other. Merkel performs Thursday, a day before the European summit in Malta, in consultation with the government-Erdogan.
