Michigan Senate GOP primary race heats up

Gov. Rick Snyder, a Republican, is not running again due to time limits, but the race to replace him, is anything but simple.

For the Democrats, Abdul El-Sayed, Shri Thanedar, and Gretchen Whitmer fight for the nomination. Whitmer, a former county Prosecutor and a member of the country day, has become a favorite of the establishment. El-Sayed, on the other hand, has the Governor as a progressive selection with sen Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, lending their support for the man, hoping to Michigan the first Muslim.

While Fox News rates the gubernatorial race as a toss-up, the Senate election in November is still probably safe for the Democrats. In 2016, Trump tight, a victory over the Democrats eked out Hillary Clinton in Michigan.

Kansas Secretary of state Kris Kobach also vying for the Republican nomination. Kobach was the Vice-President the White house the controversial election fraud Commission that was dismantled by Trump earlier this year, as it faced several legal disputes and contradictions of States. His involvement with the group has earned him the contempt of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), sent a negative Flyer to the voters before the primary election.

Trump endorsed Kobach on the day before the primary, said he was “a strong and early supporter” of the President.

Former state Sen., Jim Barnett, Patrick Kucera, Tyler Ruzich, insurance Commissioner Ken Selzer and Joseph Tutera Jr, to run for the GOP strong. Barnett was supported by the Kansas City Star and made the headlines earlier this year when he picked up his wife to be his running mate.

Fox News rates the gubernatorial race as lean Republican, but the Democrats are changing in the hope of the lieutenancy back to blue for the first time since 2011 — especially if Kobach wins.

State, Sr., and Laura Kelly, former Wichita mayor Carl Brewer and former Kansas Secretary of Agriculture, Joshua Svaty, have ranked as the top three in the Democratic primary. The candidates have fought over ties to the National Rifle Association and plans for the women’s reproductive health in the state, according to KMUW public radio station.

Sen, Maria Cantwell, a Democrat, is running for her fourth term in the U.S. Senate — but not without a fight from almost 30 challengers. The group, which includes: 13 Republicans, four Democrats, five independents, and Libertarians, among others.

Former Washington GOP chair Susan Hutchison has take over as the leading Republican contender, Cantwell, according to the Seattle Times.


According to FiveThirtyEight, Cantwell voted, with trump the agenda of 25 percent of the time, including the nomination of some Cabinet officials: Robert Wilkie for the secretary of veterans affairs, Robert Lighthizer for trade representatives, Sonny Perdue for agriculture Secretary, and Dan coats for the director of national intelligence.

Fox News rates the Senate race as likely to be a Democrat, but Hutchison said the Seattle Times, “We wouldn’t be in this crowded ballot, if Maria Cantwell was not in danger.”

It is also not the first choice, but Trump’s influence will surely be tested in Tuesday’s special house election in Ohio.
