Tuesday primaries test gubernatorial hopefuls, embattled Ellison: to see the race

It’s all about the governors in Tuesday’s primaries to choose, as voters in several States, their parties, the candidates for the race seen as competitive in November.

Many candidates hope to make history: the first transgender woman to be running for Governor in Vermont, a 14-year-old gubernatorial hopeful, the lead necessary permission of his parents, and a former Minnesota Governor who wants to remove his backrest after almost a decade.

The #MeToo movement may also have a certain influence on some of the most important races in Tuesday’s primaries, particularly in Minnesota.

Minnesota attorney general

Rep. Keith Ellison’s campaign for Minnesota attorney general was thrown for a loop after an ex-girlfriend publicly by claiming he was mentally and physically abused in the course of their relationship.

Karen Monahan ‘ s son first alleged in a Facebook post, he had hundreds of angry text messages from Ellison, including some that were threatening. He also claimed that he saw a video in which Ellison moved his mother out of bed to her feet.

Monahan confirmed the allegations as “true”. However, Ellison, has denied the allegations, said: “I’ve never behaved.”


Apart from Ellison, Democratic-Farmer-Labor race, county attorney Tom Foley, state Rep. Debra Hilstrom, a lawyer, Matt Pelikan, and Minnesota Commerce includes:-Commissioner Mike Rothman.

Ellison was given as the heavy favorite in the run-up to the primary, that his fundraising advantage and leadership in the Democratic National Committee as Deputy Chairman. He also got support from 2016 presidential contender and Vermont sen. Bernie Sanders.

As for the Republicans, former state Rep., Doug Wardlow and long-time hunting and fishing guide Bob Lessard, a former state senator, are competing for the GOP nomination.

Current Minnesota Attorney General Lori Swanson is running for Governor in the state as a Democrat.

The Democrat Hillary Clinton won in Minnesota in the 2016 election with 46.9 percent of the votes compared to President Trump’s 45.4 percent.

Vermont Governor

Republican Gov. Phil Scott is running for re-election and favored to win it, but the Democrats have some candidates who could make history.

Christine Hallquist is the first openly transgender woman to run A former Director of the Vermont Electric Cooperative for the Governor in the United States, Hallquist focuses on the fight against climate change and implementation of the universal health care in the Green Mountain State.

“Vermonters are going to select me on the platform. You are not to choose me due to the fact that I’m transgender — that’s the reality,” Hallquist said of The Associated Press, a: “of Course there is nationwide, it is important, the first transgender-Governor. It is a pioneering work.”


Ethan Sonneborn wants the story of his candidacy for Governor. He lived in Vermont for 14 years – his whole life.

The teenager needed his parents to sign, on his candidacy and collect enough signatures to put it on the ballot.

“We will build our own future,” he told The Washington Post. “You have to engage, you have to agree to have them knock on the doors. It is how we are going to be the changes we want to see in the state, in this country, in this world. If we join, do we strengthen our democracy.”

Environmental activist James Ehlers and Brenda seal, a dance festival, the organizer is focused on fighting the opioid epidemic, to run in the Democratic primary.

Scott has recently seen approval ratings, but he still enjoys a sizable lead over his Democratic opponents and his Republican Challenger, grocer Keith star. No sitting Governor to be defeated, has been in Vermont since 1962.

Wisconsin Governor

Tony Evers, and Kelda Roys among the democratic gubernatorial hopefuls.


Eight Democrats are running in the primary to incumbent Gov. Scott Walker, a Republican, faces only one Challenger in his own party.

Tony Evers, the state schools chief, who has often butted heads with Walker, leads the pack. But Kelda Roys, a former representative in the state, the published in showed a campaign video of her breastfeeding her daughter, hope, to appeal to younger voters and women.


New York sen Kirsten Gillibrand Roy’s has approved, and California Sen. Kamala Harris has approved Mahlon Mitchell, a state of the firefighters union leader.

The other candidates are: attorney and Navy veteran Matt Flynn, Blue Jean Nation founder Mike McCabe, attorney Josh Pade, Madison mayor Paul Soglin and state sen Kathleen Vinehout.

Flynn has a priest questions about his work as a lawyer for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee to fight-abuse cases in the 1990s. He said he was involved in the transfer of a priest accused of abuse in other parishes. He told The Associated Press he doesn’t “apologize for a good lawyer.”

On the Republican side, Walker faces Robert Meyer in elementary school.

Trump won barely a victory over Clinton in the 2016 presidential election in Wisconsin, earn 47.8 percent of the votes compared to its 47 percent.

Connecticut Governor

With Gov. Dan Malloy, the decision not to have a third term as Connecticut’s democratic Governor, he left to replace the door to him wide open; Fox News has the race ranked as a tossup.

For the Democrats, Bridgeport mayor Joseph Ganim and prosperous business man, Ned Lamont, the struggle for the party nomination.

Ganim fell just short, getting enough support from the state, the democratic party, the convention automatically qualify him for the runoff, so he had to go to the street and collect signatures. Fundraising could Courant is a challenge for Ganim, according to the Hartford. He served seven years in prison for corruption charges, the first time he was mayor of Bridgeport.


Danbury mayor Mark Boughton, the former First Selectman Tim Herbst, a veteran of Steve Obsitnik, a former investment banker Bob Stefanowski, and former hedge-Fund manager David Stemerman in the Republican primary.

Although Clinton beat trump in Connecticut with 54.6 percent of the vote in the 2016 presidential elections, Republicans see hope in the state.

“It’s definitely frustration, and I think this is why you will see that the red tide, a mini red tide, if you will, to fold down in this part of the state in relation to the seats from blue to red,” Boughton, the GOP’s endorsed candidate, told The Associated Press.

Wisconsin Senate

President Trump has not endorsed in this race, but Wisconsin Republicans Kevin Nichol Sundays and Leah Vukmir, to convince the voters the most, like the President, in her bid for the Senate.

Trump has not a Republican hopeful, who are vying to take on, were in favour of sen. Tammy Baldwin in Wisconsin, but two candidates is primarily to try to convince the voters that you are the most like the President.

The former Marine, Kevin Nicholson, is running as an outsider, fights against state sen. Leah Vukmir, a 15-year veteran of Parliament, has the state GOP endorsement.

Both Vukmir and Nicholson supported initially, other GOP candidates for the 2016 presidential elections, before he finally secure trump. Nicholson has hit Vukmir on footage surfaced of her saying Trump is “offensive to all.”


Nicholson ‘ s donated to parents Baldwin campaign; Vukmir has the endorsement of the speaker of the house of representatives, Paul Ryan.

The three candidates, and outside groups spent $36.9 million € on the race so far, more than any other Senate race in the country, based on a recording by the Center for Responsive Politics.

Baldwin does not face a Challenger in the primaries. Fox News rates the Senate race as likely Democrat.

Minnesota Governor

Tim Pawlenty hopes to stage a political comeback, and Minnesota Governor again.

Pawlenty is competing in one of three candidates to the GOP to replace nomination for the Governor’s outgoing democratic Gov. Mark Dayton. His main opponent is Jeff Johnson, who was the party nominated the Governor elections in 2014.

Johnson and Pawlenty have fought over who is the “true conservative” in the race – both beat each other about the negative comments you made about Trump in the past. Johnson once Trump called a “jackass” and Pawlenty Trump’s deserved wrath, as he said, the real estate tycoon was “out of joint, and unfit for the presidency.”

Pawlenty said that he retired from politics after he suspended his 2012 presidential campaign. He was first elected as Minnesota Governor in 2002 and was re-elected four years later. After that, he left the Capitol, he worked for several years for the Financial Services Roundtable in Washington, DC


Johnson, on the other hand, is a former state representative, and Sen. Marco Rubio to Minnesota state chair, if the Florida Republican, ran for President in 2016. He later served as the state co-Chairman Sen. Ted Cruz when he ran for President.

On the Democrats’ side are: state Rep. Erin Murphy, Minnesota Attorney Gen., Lori Swanson and U.S. Rep. Tim Walz.

Murphy, former executive director of the Minnesota nurses union, was supported by the local party and Dayton. According to a Star Tribune investigation of the problems highlighted in the way sexual assaults are investigated, as outlined in the state, Murphy plans for the new requirements for the police.

Swanson, however, was criticised for her running mate, the handling of a complaint of sexual harassment in his office. Swanson Rep. Rick Nolan, who was hired, the aide accused of harassment and groping of women for his re-election campaign, despite the accusations, according to Roll Call.

Fox News has been rated the Minnesota gubernatorial race a tossup.

Wisconsin House Race

Voters on Tuesday will also begin to choose who will replace speaker of the house of representatives Paul Ryan in Congress. Ryan, who was first elected to Congress in 1998 and speaker of the house of representatives in the year 2015, which was announced in April that he would not election.

His aide-de-camp, Bryan Steep, is expected to prevail in the GOP primary to replace him in 1. Constituency. The other candidates Paul Nehlen, Nick Polce, Jeremy Ryan and Kevin Steen.


Nehlen is a self-described “pro-white” candidate who was banned from Twitter. He made headlines for some of his views, even if he proposed to have the Land, talking about the rental life of Muslims in the United States and for the defense of white supremacy messages on social media.

The outgoing speaker of the house of representatives reaffirms Steep in the GOP primary.

As for the Democrats, Union iron workers, Randy “the Iron Stache” Bryce faces of the teacher and school Board member Cathy Myers on Tuesday at the elementary school.
