President Trump on Thursday under an executive order signed to the promotion of free speech in the universities, the universities threatened with the loss of Federal research funding, if you do not have the protection of these rights.

“We are here to historic action to defend the American students and of American values,” Trump said, surrounded by conservative student activists at the ceremonial signing. “You have to be under siege.”

“Under the guise of speech codes, safe spaces and trigger warnings, these universities are the free thinking, have tried to limit, to impose total compliance and shutdown of the votes of the great young Americans here today,” he said.

A senior administration official said that the order is 12 grant agencies to use their authority, in coordination with the White house Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to ensure that institutions that receive research or training support the promotion of free speech and free inquiry. White house officials have said there are more than $35 billion in grants.

Public universities, the financing of which they certify would have to be in accordance with the First Amendment, which applies already for you. Private universities need more flexibility in the restriction of speech, they commit themselves to their own institutional rules.

“Even at the universities, billions and billions of dollars of the taxpayers have received, many have said increasingly hostile to free expression and the First Amendment,” Trump.

Trump had announced that such an order was in to appear at the Conservative Political Action conference last month, where he said the Directive would require, to support colleges and universities, free speech in exchange for government research dollars.

“If you want our money, and we give it to them, by the billions, you have to allow people to speak as Hayden and many other great young people and old people,” Trump said. “The free speech. If not, it will be expensive. Will be signed “soon”.
