President Trump met face-to-face with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the G-20 summit in Japan and not told pressed his against to “meddle” in the 2020 elections, if by a reporter, but his delivery is faced immediate criticism as cautious.

Trump, sitting next to Putin, was asked by a reporter whether he would say “the Russian President not to interfere in the election.” There was some cross-talk in the space in time. Trump, without looking at Putin replied, “of course I will. Not interfere in the choice of President. Do not meddle in the choice.”

Trump’s sound and delivery were immediately called. The AP ran the headline, “Trump jokes to Putin: don’t Meddle in the election.”

The report said his tone was “open to interpretation, but not to mention to do seems to be of little questions about Trump’s relationship to Russia as a result of the special counsel, Robert Müller the conclusion that his campaign is not the cooperation with Russia in the year 2016.”

Trump supporters will probably say that the question the reporter was cumbersome, and the serious discussion should not play, in the eyes of the public. Trump the critics is likely to see to the conclusion, that he refuses to, the seriousness, the defense of U.S. elections of a foreign government, so his offhanded response.

On Friday, the first meeting between the two leaders since the Miller report documented the comprehensive manner in which Russia is trying to influence the election of 2016. The Miller report did not establish a criminal conspiracy between the trump staff and the Kremlin’s domination of the outcome of the election. Putin has denied that Russia win experiments to help in the American election Trump.

The two are in Osaka for the summit. Before the meeting, Trump said he expected a “very good conversation”, but he told reporters: “what I say to him, is not your thing.”
