WASHINGTON– A trump-card-of-court nominees to answer their inability brought basic legal questions at his hearing, him widespread ridicule has withdrawn, a White house official said on Monday.
Matthew Peterson, nominated by Trump on the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, was an internet sensation, after video of his confirmation-hearing-while the Peterson was in legal terms — was posted online.
A White house official said Peterson withdrew from the consideration and Trump accepted the withdrawal. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the official was not authorized to discuss, to make the development open to the public.
During the hearing, Louisiana Senator John Kennedy Peterson, a member of the Federal Election Commission, testified that he had never tried to down a case on his qualifications to the Bank.
Kennedy said in an interview Monday with WWL-TV in New Orleans that Trump called him Saturday and said he did not personally interview Petersen. Trump, according to Kennedy, said his staff selected the nominees.
“He told me, `Kennedy, if some of my guys to send someone who is not qualified, you do your job,”‘ Kennedy said in the interview.
Kennedy said he had no idea that Petersen lacked the experience for the post.
“Just because you’ve seen “My Cousin Vinny’ is not qualified to be a Federal judge,” Kennedy said, an allusion to the 1992 Film, in which an inexperienced attorney trying a big case. “And he has experience of no dispute. And my job at the justice Committee, is to catch him. I strongly recommend that he not give up his job.”
