Trump gives grace to controversial sheriff
The American president Donald Trump has Friday pardoned a controversial former sheriff from Arizona, Joe Arpaio. That was last month convicted of ignoring a court order.
The 85-year-old Arpaio was known as the “toughest sheriff of the USA”. The veteran of the Korean War is a convinced patriot and a supporter of Trump.
He was controversial because of his tough stance against illegal immigrants. In July he was convicted of willfully ignoring a court order.
The court had previously determined that Arpaio and his agents must stop arbitrarily holding and detention of immigrants on suspicion of illegality. The sheriff explained that command down beside her.
It is the first time that president Trump uses his right to pardon. “He loved Arizona safe!”, the president declared the pardon via Twitter.
I am pleased to inform you that I have just granted a full Pardon to 85 year old American patriot Sheriff Joe Arpaio. He kept Arizona safe!
